 Ghost VFX Gets Dragged To
Hell
Drag Me to Hell is a horror film, written and
directed by Sam Raimi, with a screenplay by Sam
Raimi and Ivan Raimi.
The plot revolves around Los Angeles loan
officer Christine Brown (Alison Lohman), who tries
to impress her boss by refusing to extend a loan
to Mrs. Ganush (Lorna Raver). In retaliation,
Ganush places a curse on Christine, which, if not
passed on to someone else within three days, will
plunge her into the depths of Hell to burn for
eternity.
Raimi wrote Drag Me to Hell before he had
worked on the Spider-Man film series and was his
first horror film since directing the Evil Dead
film series. The film premiered at the Cannes Film
Festival and was released to very positive
critical acclaim on its theatrical run in the
United States and was a box office
success.

Digital Uses Fusion To Reveal the Secret World of
Fireworks
Mechanism
Digital recently completed a graphics package for
the television special, Secret World of Fireworks,
which premiered on the National Geographic
Channel, July 2nd.
They created a few 'what-if'
scenarios, with eyeon Fusion's Particle System,
simulating an accidental explosion of the bunkers
in which fireworks are built, which illustrated
the danger behind the science. more

Travelogue Releases KrazyKey Plugin
This
tool is an example of an idea that would be
totally impractical (hence the krazy) without a
highly parallel GPU-based approach. The algorithm
takes each pixel in the input image, and finds the
shortest distance (in RGB space) from it to the
pixels in the 'selection' image. This requires an
every-pixel-to-every-pixel distance calculation,
with the final shortest distance value compared to
a threshold to determine whether or not to mask
the pixel.
