G.I. Joe JetPrime Focus Uses Fusion to Heighten the G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra Experience

Prime Focus contributed roughly 70 visual effects shots for the finale's aerial sequence, which features a plane being eaten away by Nanomites, a U.S. developed bio-weapon usurped by evil forces that disintegrates metal on contact. Said Chris Bond, senior visual effects supervisor and president of Prime Focus VFX, "This sequence was particularly challenging because we weren't relying on any aerial photography, which would be nearly impossible to shoot at these speeds, but instead created nearly everything digitally - the plane, sky, clouds and the destructive Nanomites that eat away the plane." Read more about the team's work here.

Aliens In The AtticCIS Vancouver Sees Aliens In their Attic

It all starts as a meteor shower rockets across the dark galaxy. Four glowing pods sparkle and crackle behind the meteors. A mysterious force makes the meteor shower turn a hard right toward a bright blue ball in the distance - planet Earth.

The team at CIS Vancouver help bring this fun and fantastic film to life.

Jason Dowdeswell, Head of Digital Studio, CIS Vancouver, had this to say about using Fusion for the VFX, "We used Fusion for a lot of tricky wire removals in Aliens in the Attic, especially in the anti-gravity sequence where three kids were suspended on wire picks in a room that was built upside down. As well as dealing with the inverted room, the wires had a lot of cross-over of faces and appendages that proved challenging. There were also quite a few rack focuses in that scene. Additionally, Fusion's paint tool came in very handy when re-building clean plates from multiple frames and prepping for composite."
