It

Focus contributed a majority of New Moon's most
frequently featured visual effects, including CG

O'Hare
Aero
Director/VFX artist Sam O'Hare has finished a
short film, called The Sandpit. This short is
inspired by films like Koyaanisqatsi and
time-lapse tilt shift photography. The Sandpit is
a day in the life of New York City, as seen in
miniature.
It
is shot on a Nikon D3 (with one shot done on a
D80), as a series of stills, over 35,000! The
entire shoot was completed in five days and
two evenings. Read more about The Sandpit

Sponsoring The Newest It's Art Challenge
The
concept of this challenge is to illustrate a fake
'Time Traveller's Guide for Dummies'. For more
than a decade, time travel has been accessible to
everyone. It's really secure nowadays but the
government wants to produce a little guide for
travellers to warn them about little annoyances
and how to avoid problems. You, the
artist, will produce this little guide, describing
the situations, using different techniques, 2d
pictures, 3D pictures, comics, and videos. You're
asked to choose one of these categories and don't
forget to have a great sense of
humor...
To
learn more about the challenge, and how you can
participate, visit the It's Art website here.

Thoughts
From Fusion Developers
Creating 3D LUTs
As
of, erm, 5.2?, Fusion has supported 3D LUTs, in
the image view and on the flow, natively (I think
Rising Sun had a plugin for that
before then). These go beyond ordinary (1D) LUTs
and allow you to do more than simply adjust colour
intensities, but to map colours to completely
different colours, like making the image sepia, or
changing all the chartreuse pixels in your image
to a sort of
pinky-russet.
