- OpenCL Fuse
Manual
"I've posted an updated OpenCL fuse reference
manual over on VFXpedia, so you've
officially run out of excuses (except for the guy
over there with last year's ATi card, you're off
the hook). There are some example OpenCL fuses
included with Fusion 6.1, and a quick
walkthrough (could use a little
revising) also on VFXpedia. I'm curious to see
what people come up with, now that fuses can be
even faster than built-in
tools!"

 Hybride and Ubisoft Bring
Out The Beast In Predators
Ubisoft's
Hybride division, along with Ubisoft Digital Arts,
completed 470 visual effect shots for Twentieth
Century Fox's latest release, Predators, which
opened nationwide on July 9. A team of 89 Hybride
members and 59 from UDA spent five months working
on the shots. Read more here.

 Arjan Fuses Music and
Video for Black Hole
Arjan
van Meerten, of House of Secrets, wrote a
fantastic tune, he then decided to make a music
video to bring it to the screen. Fusion was his
software of choice.
We spoke with
him about writing the music, creating the video,
and the challenges he faced. Read more here.

 Prime Focus Ramps Up The
A-Team
For
Prime Focus, one of the film's key challenges was
making sure the energy throughout the opening
sequence was appropriately 'amped'. Said VFX
Supervisor Chris Harvey, "The director's vision
was to tell a story of high action and near
misses, with the audience always at the edge of
their seats. So we were constantly revisiting
shots, adding new elements, and adjusting the
animation to bring up the intensity. In one scene,
we were supposed to only feature one missile; by
the time we delivered, we'd added 16 more!

Helps Produce RED Music
Video
Jeremy
Hughes, a cmiVFX customer has
been using their training resources and
produced a fantastic music video for Sony and
the band RED. He was nice enough to create a
video testimonial. Watch it and see why he
chose to use Fusion for the project.
Here's what Jeremy had to say about making
the video using Fusion - "Basically I turned this
video around inside of 2 months where I had to do
about 85% of the work myself in post. Without
Fusion and LW, I wouldn't have made
it!"
