2D subview zoom center incorrect when MMB-LBM zooming
Applies To: Fusion 5.00
Using the MMB-LMB-Drag method to scale an image in a subview set to the 2D viewer type will scale the image around the center of the mainview, not the subview.

3D controls appear as large crosshairs in the bottom left of display views
Applies To: Fusion 5.00
Large crosshair controls appear in the bottom left corner of the display view when a 3D tool is selected, but a 2D tool is shown in the views. This is caused by the 3D control trying to find a place to draw in the 2D view.

3D Objects set to Wireframe do not appear in 3D Software renderer
Applies To: Fusion 5.00
The 3D Software Renderer does not support wireframe rendering at this time. Use the OpenGL renderer if you need to output a wireframe rendering of a 3D object.

All pRender tools are invalidated at start of render (or preview etc)
Applies To: Fusion 5.00
Whenever a final or preview render is started, or a disk cache is prerendered Fusion will send a StartRender message to all tools. In the case of particle tools, this invalidates the tool, eliminating any disk caches or ram caches held for the tools.

As an example, you would add a pEmitter->pRender to a composition. Copy the tools and paste them into the flow so you have two seperate particle systems.

Set one pRender to diskcache, and pre-render. Then do the same for the other one - when it starts to pre-render, the first one's cache will be cleared. If you redo the first one, it will clear the second one.

Both will be cleared if you do a preview, or start a final render. Everything downstream will be cleared as well.

Until this issue is solved, avoid disk caching particle tools directly. One approach is to prerender the result of the particle tools to disk using a saver, and replace the particle systems with a loader.

Bins thumbnail images with alpha show chequer underlay at varying scales when scrubbing
Applies To: Fusion 5.00
Bins stamps of footage with transparent alpha use a chequer underlay to represent the alpha, but the scale of the checks is not stable, and will flicker from frame to frame when right click scrubbing the thumbnail, or playing the items stamp.

Can only animate particle region center controls on the X axis from the context menu.
Applies To: Fusion 5.00
Right clicking on a center crosshair for a 2D particle systems region and selecting 'animate' from the context menu will allow you to animate the X axis only.

To animate the crosshair on the X, Y and Z axis, use the slider controls in the tools control window.

Cannot apply motion blur to 3D particles
Applies To: Fusion 5.00
You cannot currently apply motion blur to 3D particles. Specifically, 3D particles do not support subtime sampling, so they cannot generate motion blur samples for partial frames (e.g. frame 1.25)

If the shutter angle is sufficiently large (over 360 degrees) then you may see a limited form of motion blur from full frame samples.

Cannot drag a composition from the Bins to the Flow.
Applies To: Fusion 5.00
Nothing happens when you drag a composition from the Bins to the Flow. Double click on the comp in the bins to open it instead.

Cannot load a RAW sequence produced by a fielded tools disk cache.
Applies To: Fusion 5.00
The loader tool is unable to load a RAW file sequence produced by a fielded disk cache. The disk cache itself works fine, you just can't load it directly using the loader tool.

Compositions opened by dragging onto the exe or icon are locked.
Applies To: Fusion 5.00
Opening a composition by dragging it onto the Fusion executable or icon opens the comp, but Fusion is unable to display any images. This occurs because the composition is opened in 'Locked' mode. To correct this problem try typing comp:Unlock() in the console and hitting enter.

Display LUT windows will resize & scale horizontally, but not vertically.
Applies To: Fusion 5.00
The Display Views LUT editor dialog appears to be resizable, but it can only be adjusted horizontally. Vertical scaling is ignored, and may cause problems redrawing the splines.

Empty Bitmap Masks prevents upstream masks from producing a valid mask.
Applies To: Fusion 5.00
If a Bitmap Mask tool has no source image it will prevent upstream masks connected to it from producing a valid mask channel.

This is known behaviour, and is not considered a bug. However, eyeon is considering other possibilities, such as having the tool fail instead of producing an empty mask channel.

Fusion 5.0 hangs at the splashscreen during startup.
Applies To: Fusion 5.00
On a few systems there have been reports that starting Fusion occasionally fails. The splash screen graphic appears, but the application does not start. The Fusion.exe will appear to be hung in the tasklist.

On a few systems there have been reports that starting Fusion occasionally fails. The splash screen graphic appears, but the application does not start. The Fusion.exe will appear to be hung in the tasklist.

This problem seems more likely to occur immediately after a reboot of the system, or when starting a new copy of Fusion immediately after shutting one down.

At this time, support is suggesting you simply kill the fusion.exe process via the task manager, wait 5 seconds, then start Fusion again. The application rarely fails to start on the second attempt, and never fails on a third.

We have located a system that exhibits the problem and are currently testing at eyeon Software.

OpenGL Shadows do not appear unless light is a minimum of 1.0 units away from object it is lighting.
Applies To: Fusion 5.00
Currently the OpenGL renderer requires that the light source be a minimum of 1 unit distant from an object before the light will affect the object. The Software renderer does not have this limitation.

Particle region controls not drawing in 2D
Applies To: Fusion 5.00
Particle tools operating in 2D mode will fail to draw the outline for region controls. For example, a cube region will show a center crosshair, but not the cube itself. All regions are effected, with the exception of the sphere.

pRender tools 'show grid' option has no effect when pRender tool is in 2D mode
Applies To: Fusion 5.00
The pRender tools 'show grid' option has no effect at all when the pRender tool is set to 2D mode. This feature will be reimplemented in a future patch.

pRenders "only render in HiQ" checkbox option has no effect in 3D
Applies To: Fusion 5.00
pRenders "only render in HiQ" checkbox option has no effect when the particle system is in 3D mode. This is a known issue.

Shadows disappear when 3D display or renderer is set to Sorted mode.
Applies To: Fusion 5.00
The OpenGL 'Sorted' mode does not currently support display of shadows. Use ZBuffer sorting, or render using the Software renderer.

Stopping a track causes the stop render dialog to appear twice.
Applies To: Fusion 5.00
When tracking a pattern using the Tracker tool, pressing Stop will cause the 'Stop Render' confirmation dialog to appear twice. Click OK to both dialogs to abort the track.

Using Load Default option on Loader tools causes tool to fail.
Applies To: Fusion 5.00
Choosing the 'Load Defaults' option from a Loader tool's context menu will reset the tool, and if AutoClip Browse is enabled then a dialog will appear that lets you select a new file to Load. The tool will fail to load any selected clips or images, however.

There is no workaround for this bug at the moment. Avoid using the 'Load Default' option on Loader tools until this problem is resolved.

Viewing a Trapcode Shine tool in the display view causes crash.
Applies To: Fusion 5.00
Viewing the Trapcode Shine plugin in any display view will cause Fusion to crash. There is no workaround at this time.

When saving a macro Fusion may exit unexpectedly.
Applies To: Fusion 5.00
When saving a new or edited macro from the macro editor Fusion may exit unexpectedly. This happens very rarely, making it difficult for eyeon's developers to isolate the cause. If you have a 100% repeatable case of this problem, please report it to eyeon Software Technical Support.

The macro is correctly saved before Fusion exists, so we suggest saving all compositions before editing or creating a macro.

Fusion no longer runs after installing Quicktime 7
Applies To: DF 4, DFX+4
Installing Quicktime 7 will cause Fusion to crash on startup. This is caused by a bug in Quicktime 7.0.0 through 7.0.2. Apple fixed the problem in Quicktime 7.0.3, which was released on Thursday, October 12th, 2005. To prevent Fusion or DFX+ from crashing on startup either remove Quicktime from the system or upgrade to Quicktime 7.0.3 or higher.

Render fails when Glow blend is 0.
Applies To: Setting the blend on a glow tool to 0 causes the tool to fail.
This prevents the tool from rendering, and that causes the flow to fail. This is a confirmed bug in Digital Fusion and DFX+ 4.04c. The problem will be corrected in the next patch. To workaround this problem in the meantime, set the value of the blend to 0.0001 or another extremely small value.

WindowsXP SP2 Issue with HASP Drivers
Applies To: Fusion / DFX+ is unable to see your HASP dongle in WindowsXP SP2 or later
There is currently an issue which arises with a computer running WindowsXP SP2 which will cause Fusion or DFX+ to not see your HASP dongle.

In this case, you will need to uninstall all instances of the HASP drivers from your computer, and then re-install the most current driver from the Aladdin website. This driver can be obtained

Once the updated drivers are installed you will then need to install the previous version of drivers, which would be version 4.95 The direct link to these drivers can be found .

Adding a Paint Tool by dragging the shortcut onto a view will result in a crash.
Applies To: Digital Fusion 4.02 and DFX+ 4.02
When dragging the Paint tool's shortcut button (PNT) and dropping it onto one of Fusion's views in order to connect that new Paint tool to the tool being viewed, Fusion will crash. This has been remedied for the next update, but until that is released as a workaround do not add a Paint tool to your flow in this manner.

Fusion will lock up when renaming a tool that uses only numbers in its name.
Applies To: Digital Fusion 4.0 and DFX+ 4.0 to Digital Fusion 4.02 and DFX+ 4.02
If a tool is only using numbers (dots included) in its name, then any attempts to rename this tool will result in the DF or DFX+ interface locking up. This also includes copying tools, as the copy request also involves the file being renamed for the duplicate version. (ie 123 will become renamed to 123.1 when copied.) The current suggested workaround is to NOT name tools with only numbers. This issue has been resolved and will be remedied in the next update.

Fusion Crashes when publishing polygon points to a path.
Applies To: all DF and DFX+ versions
This occurs when attempting to publish an animated polygon point to a path. The current work around is to be sure to publish the point on a keyframe of the polygon.

Velocity/Velocity-Q integration is flakey.
Applies To: DF and DFX+ versions 4.0 & 4.01
Leitch/DPS have released a PDF file outlining current work arounds for DFX+ and Digital Fusion to stabilize the integration between the applications. Find it here.
