Urban Renewal ... CaféFX Helps Build "Sin City"
Director Robert Rodriguez delivers an interpretation of Frank Miller's dim tale of guns and gangsters in the saturated streets of Sin City, resurfacing a film noir sentiment, sans film. Using the original comic as a strict visual guide and Miller as the DP, the film posed challenges in post that called for sophisticated software to tweak even the smallest details.

Café FX used Fusion to restore and highlight special colour effects and manipulation. "The Sin City look was a very special set of curves in Fusion that had to be adjusted on a shot-by-shot basis," says Everatt Burrell, a Café FX digital effects co-supervisor. Fusion's particle suite was used to manipulate droplets of rain that trickle down windshields and bounce off trench coats.

For a closer look at the making of Sin City, check out Ken McGorry's cover story in this month's Post magazine .
Status-Yo!
Director Till Hastreiter and the production team of Discofilm  in Cologne, Germany, use Fusion as their core compositing tool for post production on Status Yo!

In search of a flexible and economical compositing tool, Discofilm decided to use Fusion for its "... first-class workflow and matured file management." Status Yo! has since been preselected for the German Filmaward.

Status Yo! takes a documentary-style look at the 'pflegerlounge' , a community of Berlin hip-hop artists that organize underground jams, showcasing their styles in freestyle and rap. This urbanized interpretation of the most popular German subculture supports a Euro approach to big dreams with little money in the ghetto. For more information vist Sascha Haber's website .
